Will my cat's microchip work with a microchip cat flap?

Most UK chips (15-digit FDX-B and 10-digit FECAVA) work with all the major brands. Some older AVID Secure chips don't read. Every manufacturer also supplies its own RFID collar tag, so a cat with an unreadable chip can still use the flap.

Do you program the flap during the visit?

Yes. We fit the flap, put it into learn mode and register your cat, then test entry and exit before we leave.

Which microchip flap do you recommend for Manchester homes?

For most terraced and semi-detached homes, the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap is the best value. If you want app control and entry logs, the SureFlap Connect or OnlyCat are the upgrades worth paying for.

Microchip Cat Flap Installer — Manchester

A microchip flap only earns its price if it's fitted and programmed correctly. We install SureFlap, SureFlap Connect, OnlyCat and PetSafe microchip flaps across Greater Manchester and set them up on site — chip learned, direction settings configured, and the app paired where the model supports it.

We also check your cat's chip type before we fit. FDX-B and FECAVA chips read reliably; older 10-digit AVID Secure chips can be a problem, and we'd rather tell you before installation than after.
