Our experience fitting it
We have fitted well over a thousand cat flaps across Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Yorkshire, and the standard SureFlap microchip model turns up more than any other flap. This review is based on what we see in customers' doors — not a box unboxing.
Pros
- Consistent microchip reads, even with older 134.2kHz chips
- Stores up to 32 pet IDs — plenty for multi-cat households
- Fits uPVC, composite, wooden doors, walls and (with a new panel) glass
- Spares and replacement tunnels are easy to source in the UK
- Simple one-button programming — no app or hub needed
Cons
- AA batteries typically last 6–12 months, less than PetSafe's C cells
- No in/out tracking unless you upgrade to DualScan or Connect
- Collar tags are an extra purchase if your cat is not chipped

Fitting notes from our installers
In uPVC and composite doors we cut the aperture on site and seal both frames. In glass we cannot cut existing glass — we measure and order a new toughened panel with the hole pre-cut, then fit the flap once the panel arrives.
We fit this model into uPVC doors, composite doors and glass doors across the North West and Yorkshire.
