Can you fit a cat flap in a period cottage door in Shropshire?

Most period cottages here have been re-fitted with composite, UPvc or quality hardwood doors in the last 20–30 years — all of which we fit cleanly. For original timber doors with leaded glass we'd usually recommend the side or rear utility door to preserve the front-elevation look.

About Meole Brace, Shrewsbury

Doors & Properties in Meole Brace

The housing in Meole Brace is predominantly Tudor-style and mock-Tudor inter-war homes with leaded glass features, which typically feature double-glazed French doors and sliding patio panels. We test the cat flap with a magnet and chip simulator before handing over.

Meole Brace is a popular residential district in the SY3 postcode on the southern edge of Shrewsbury, sitting between the Rea Brook Valley Local Nature Reserve and the Meole Brace retail park. The housing along Upper Road, Vicarage Lane and the leafy estates near Meole Brace School and the historic St Mary's Church is a classic Shrewsbury mix — Victorian villas, 1930s bay-fronted semis and modern detached infill. UPvc rear doors dominate, and we install a high volume of SureFlap microchip flaps for households on the streets backing onto the Rea Brook nature reserve.

About Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury is the historic county town of Shropshire, set in a near-perfect loop of the River Severn and famous for its medieval black-and-white timbered streets, the Norman Shrewsbury Castle, and as the birthplace of Charles Darwin. The town is the gateway to the Shropshire Hills AONB, with the Long Mynd, the Stiperstones and Wenlock Edge all on its doorstep.

Cat Flap Fitting in the Shrewsbury Area

Shrewsbury and the wider Shropshire countryside feature an unusually varied housing mix — medieval timbered townhouses in the loop, Georgian and Victorian terraces along the suburbs, and modern detached estates in the surrounding villages. Our cat flap fitters work right across the county, from the SY1 town-centre conservation streets to the rural cottages of the Shropshire Hills.
