Can you fit a cat flap in a period cottage door in Shropshire?

Most period cottages here have been re-fitted with composite, UPvc or quality hardwood doors in the last 20–30 years — all of which we fit cleanly. For original timber doors with leaded glass we'd usually recommend the side or rear utility door to preserve the front-elevation look.

About Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury

Doors & Properties in Much Wenlock

The housing in Much Wenlock is predominantly characterful cottages with stable doors and replaced UPvc kitchen exits, which typically feature modern flush composite doors and UPvc bifold rears. Every job includes a full draught-proof seal and function test before we leave.

Much Wenlock is a historic market town in the TF13 postcode south-east of Shrewsbury, famous as the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games and dominated by the ruins of Wenlock Priory. The properties along the High Street, Sheinton Street and the lanes climbing toward Wenlock Edge are a striking mix of timber-framed medieval townhouses, Georgian terraces and characterful detached homes on the edge of the AONB. Period door work here is sensitive, and we typically install microchip flaps into a discreet rear or side utility door to preserve the heritage frontage.
